- 2 lbs ground beef
- 1 lb sausage (your choice)
- 2 - 15 oz cans tomato sauce
- 2 cups water
- 2 - 15 oz cans beans (your choice: pinto, kidney, or black)
- 3-4 tablespoons Texas BBQ Rub
- Chili powder to taste (optional)
- Masa for thickening (optional)
Instructions
- Brown meat: Brown ground beef and sausage in large pot, drain excess fat
- Add liquids: Add tomato sauce and water, stir well
- Add beans: Add beans (with liquid) and stir
- Season: Add Texas BBQ Rub and optional chili powder, stir thoroughly
- Simmer: Bring to boil, then reduce to simmer for 30-45 minutes
- Thicken (optional): Mix masa with water to make paste, stir into chili to thicken
