Jeremy's Quick and Easy Chili

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 lb sausage (your choice)
  • 2 - 15 oz cans tomato sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 - 15 oz cans beans (your choice: pinto, kidney, or black)
  • 3-4 tablespoons Texas BBQ Rub
  • Chili powder to taste (optional)
  • Masa for thickening (optional)

Instructions

  1. Brown meat: Brown ground beef and sausage in large pot, drain excess fat
  2. Add liquids: Add tomato sauce and water, stir well
  3. Add beans: Add beans (with liquid) and stir
  4. Season: Add Texas BBQ Rub and optional chili powder, stir thoroughly
  5. Simmer: Bring to boil, then reduce to simmer for 30-45 minutes
  6. Thicken (optional): Mix masa with water to make paste, stir into chili to thicken

Serves approximately 4-6 people

Tips

  • Adjust Texas BBQ Rub amount to your taste preference
  • Longer simmering develops deeper flavors
  • Great topped with shredded cheese, sour cream, and green onions
  • Can be made in slow cooker - cook on low for 4-6 hours
