TexasBBQRub: Old No.2 - Brisket Rub

Looking for a robust, competition-ready rub crafted for modern barbecue enthusiasts? Meet TexasBBQRub – Old No.2 - Brisket Rub brisket rub, our ultimate seasoning for beef brisket, pork butts, and any other large cuts that thrive with long, slow cooks.

With today’s growing passion for smoked meats—whether on offset smokers, pellet grills, or kamado cookers—Old No.2 - Brisket Rub hits every note. Many of you have already tried it on brisket and pork butts, and the results have been outstanding. Now, we’re excited to share this special blend with everyone!

What We Did
We took our original Texas BBQ Rub recipe and dialed up the flavor for bigger cuts: more spice, larger pieces of key seasonings, and less sugar. This balance ensures your meat soaks in bold flavors throughout extended cook times—perfect for those 8-to-15-hour smokes.

Before launching, we sent Old No.2 - Brisket Rub to competition teams and select barbecue enthusiasts across the country. We even showcased it at the Houston Rodeo BBQ Cook-Off, serving over 1,000 guests. The feedback was phenomenal, with top teams snagging state championships and podium finishes in brisket and pork categories. After rigorous testing and high praise, we made Old No.2 - Brisket Rub our first new blend since the Original TexasBBQRub.

Now Available to You
TexasBBQRub Old No.2 - Brisket Rub is now on our website, ready for your backyard or competition cook. One 2-pound bag will season approximately 30 pounds of brisket or pork butts, depending on how generously you apply it.

Note: While Old No.2 - Brisket Rub packs incredible flavor for big, marbled cuts, we recommend sticking to our Original TexasBBQRub for pork ribs. For those who’ve tried Old No.2 - Brisket Rub on chicken, though, they’ve loved the extra kick it provides.

Use the Simple 1-2-3 Method of Applying the Rub
Just like our Original TexasBBQRub, Old No.2 - Brisket Rub is effortless to use. First, coat your meat with Worcestershire sauce (or your favorite liquid). Next, rub on a generous layer of Old No.2 - Brisket Rub until it forms a nice, gooey mixture. Finally, set your brisket or pork butt on the smoker and cook low and slow—anywhere from 8 to 15 hours. That’s it!

Experience the full, rich flavors that have earned top honors on the competition circuit and rave reviews in backyards across the country. Fire up your smoker, grab a bag of TexasBBQRub Old No.2 - Brisket Rub, and taste the future of barbecue.
